Based on the award-winning podcast The Confessions of Anthony Raimondi, winner of Gold for Best Sound Design in Limited Series & Specials at the 2024 Signal Awards, Confessions is a stranger-than-fiction crime thriller about one of the last old-school mafia enforcers and the sins that follow him to his deathbed. As Anthony Raimondi lies dying in a New York City hospital, a young priest arrives to hear his final confession: a lifetime of violence, loyalty and betrayal inside the Colombo crime family, from the streets of Brooklyn to covert operations in Vietnam, a legendary heist, and the shadowy corridors of the Vatican.
But Anthony’s most shocking confession is the one that may have damned his soul: his alleged role in the murder of Pope John Paul I, who died just 33 days after being elected. As memories bleed into myth, Confessions follows Anthony through a world of mob bosses, corrupt clergy, federal investigations and spiritual reckoning, asking whether his story is the truth, the fantasy of a dying man, or something even more unsettling. At its heart, this is not only a crime story, but a haunting portrait of guilt, faith and the possibility of grace.
