Producer Anouk Ratnawibhushana shares his thoughts on Blackmagic’s latest release and what it means for creators working smarter with tighter budgets.
“Blackmagic has just dropped the new URSA Cine 12K LF and I’ve got to say, I’m genuinely excited about what it means for smaller-budget productions…

For years, ARRI and RED have been the go-tos for big jobs. And for good reason – they’re reliable industry staples. But not every project has the budget to stretch that far.
That’s where this new Blackmagic camera comes in. It shoots full-frame 12K (which is wild), has all the pro features built-in (I won’t bore you with the tech specs, but I can assure you they’re awesome), and it still manages to come in at a price point that makes it a real contender for online brand films, high-end social campaigns, and smaller, more contained commercial shoots.
To me, this camera feels perfect for those mid-range jobs where you want to punch above your weight visually. It’s the kind of camera that lets us say yes to more projects, without having to compromise on quality.
I wouldn’t say it’s here to replace ARRI, but it’s definitely one I’ll be keeping in my back pocket for the right job.”
